Maurice Richardson

Assistant Controller

Maurice is responsible for all general accounting needs including transaction processing, reporting, and process improvement efforts. He aims to improve the organization’s accounting procedures and for managing financial statement preparation.

Throughout his career in public and industry accounting, he has encountered many organizations and companies that had waited too late in their lives (or too late in their growth phases) to get their accounting functions in place. Either they couldn’t afford to hire the right team or weren’t aware of the need and impact of a solid accounting staff, which resulted in nightmare scenarios for their financial statements and external auditors. I believe accounting, together with solid accounting policies and procedures, are the foundation of everything an organization is capable of becoming. I’m motivated by helping CFSI support its own financial health and growth.

Maurice started his career with nearly five years of public accounting experience, auditing both large and small businesses, benefit plans, and not for profit organizations. My clients included but weren’t limited to: ACLU of IL; Institute of Cultural Affairs; Weiss Memorial Hospital; Aon Corporation, McDonald Corporation’s Health & Welfare Plans; A Finkle Steel; Kaptone Paper & Plastics; Tetra Pak; State of Illinois Department of Revenue, United Cerebral Palsy of IL, Symblex Corporation; a wide ranging spectrum of diverse industries. He then went into traditional corporate accounting roles a few years where he improved upon his understanding of internal corporate accounting and reporting.

He earned a Bachelors of Business Administration from the University of Iowa, majoring in Accounting, and passed Illinois’ Certified Public Accounting exam in October of 2011.

When he’s not working, he enjoys playing basketball, watching the Chicago Bears, reading, or listening to live music.
