Mia Barricini

Director

As CFSI’s Director, Development, Mia is responsible for the strategy and execution of the organization’s fundraising and donor relations efforts. After practicing law in the private and government sectors for a decade, Mia transitioned to working as an advocate for improved early childhood care and other educational options for vulnerable children and families. Mia was drawn to CFSI’s compelling work to improve the financial health of vulnerable families. It felt like a natural complement to her experience working with and on behalf of low-income populations.

One of her proudest achievements was helping to found the first all-girls public charter school in Chicago in 1999– The Young Women’s Leadership Charter School. For several years she served as a consultant to non-profits, providing advice and assistance regarding fundraising and board development. Most recently, she served as Development Director at a national education organization seeking to improve quality in the charter school sector.

Mia and her husband reside in Chicago and have three young daughters. She holds a Juris Doctor from the Northwestern University School of Law and graduated magna cum laude from Amherst College with a degree in American Studies.
