Thea Garon

Director

Thea is a Director on CFSI’s Program Team. She leads the U.S. Financial Health Index, a groundbreaking research initiative designed to monitor and track the financial lives of Americans. In this capacity, she is responsible for articulating the vision of the initiative, engaging stakeholders across the financial health ecosystem, and communicating insights from the study to academic, policy, regulatory, media, and provider audiences.

Thea is also an expert in prepaid and payroll cards, having authored numerous studies on the subject, including the Prepaid Industry Scorecard and the Compass Guide to Payroll Cards. She monitors emerging trends across these industries and shares her expertise with stakeholders across the sector. 

Thea’s passion for her work derives from a longstanding commitment to social justice. She holds a Masters of Urban Planning from NYU’s Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service and graduated magna cum laude from Carleton College with a B.A. in History.
